Maybe it’s my age, but these days more and more I want to hear (and compose for) high, bright sounds. These three pieces were finished very quickly during the summer of 2021, an unsettled and uncertain period for so many of us. The result seems to me to embody creative excitement – up till then I’d never considered writing a piece for solo piccolo. I’m always grateful to my musical subconscious!
