The strangeness of the contrabass flute’s sound is explored in this piece for contrabass flute and electronics. The instrument’s upper register, with it’s forced, reed-like timbre, is contrasted with sections exploring the mellifluous and fragile lower register. This is set against squirming synth sounds in the electronics, distorted bass drums, and moments of sparseness.
