Carla Reesis the founder and director of Tetractys Publishing. An internationally renowned flute player, her specialisms include low flutes, contemporary flute, new music for baroque flute and repertoire for Kingma System flutes. She is Artistic Director of rarescale, Editor of Pan, the Journal of the British Flute Society, and Commissions Coordinator for the National Flute Association of America.

She studied flute and composition at the Royal College of Music in London, where she also completed a PhD on extended techniques for Kingma system alto and bass flutes. She has had several hundred works composed for her to date, and has an active international performance career as recitalist and chamber musician. Professor of Low Flutes and Contemporary Flute at the Royal Academy of Music, as well as Programme Leader for Music at the Open College of the Arts, where she designed and now runs an innovative online music degree.
