Katrina Emtage - Crow Dance

Flute pieces are often inspired by birds but they are usually of the songbird type - nightingales, larks, blackbirds and thrushes abound. This piece however was inspired by a different type of avian character. Crows are plentiful in our village and I am frequently entertained watching their movements in the garden as I play; I also hear them hopping across the tin roof of my practice shed. Although their “songs” are not as melodious they make a vital contribution to our diverse world and so this piece is dedicated to these amazingly intelligent birds.
